The Reliability Survey Chart
Survey increases to 23 car makers. In this year's survey we have included
23 manufacturers, up from 21 in 1997, with the newcomers being Alfa
Romeo and Hyundai.
Out of the 21 manufacturers who have been included in both surveys,
only three manufacturers, Chrysler, Jaguar, and Saab saw their MBPHV
figure reduce. All others saw their figure increase. Bottom of the
pile this year was Citroën whose MBPHV figure increased from 27 to
44.1, while Saab saw the best improvement, reducing its MBPHV figure
by 11.1 points.
Mitsubishi retained their position at number one, even though their
MBPHV figure increased by around 20%. BMW slipped from second to third
position with a MBPHV figure of 8.2, while Jaguar replaced them with
a MBPHV of 7.0. Alfa Romeo entered the survey in 22nd position, while
Hyundai arrived in 13th place.
